Village Medical is Partnering Again with The COPD Foundation for a Free Patient Webinar

CHICAGO (Oct. 10, 2024) – Village Medical and The COPD Foundation today announced a webinar to support patients through Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). The free, educational event will focus on how chronic conditions may impact options and what steps eligible enrollees can take to make informed decisions about their healthcare coverage.

During the webinar, “How to Navigate Medicare Annual Enrollment Period with Confidence,” Village Medical physicians, Dr. David Hatfield and Dr. Clyde Watkins, plus special guest Mike Hess, a respiratory therapist from the COPD Foundation, will lead the discussion and answer audience questions. Those interested in attending can register for free here.

Medicare AEP occurs annually from October 15 to December 7, with coverage beginning on January 1 of the next year. This is the only time of year that eligible patients can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) or a Medicare drug plan. Medicare health insurance is available to people 65 or older, or younger people with certain medical conditions or disabilities. AEP also presents the opportunity to switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan, or vice versa.

As of April 2024, there are roughly 67.3 million Americans enrolled in Medicare. Through VillageMD and The COPD Foundation’s partnership, the organizations have worked together to educate patients on the importance of preventive healthcare especially for patients with chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This webinar will specifically focus on how patients with chronic conditions can find the plan that works best for them through Medicare AEP.

“In primary care, we work closely with patients managing chronic conditions to improve their quality of life. It’s important that our patients feel confident in selecting the right Medicare coverage for their unique needs,” said Dr. David Hatfield, chief physician executive of Village Medical. “Through our work with The COPD Foundation, we’re eager to reach patients with informative tips that will help them navigate this process.”

“Diagnosis and treatment of COPD often lives in primary care,” said Mike Hess, respiratory therapist with the COPD Foundation. “Because of this, it’s critical that patients have access to the providers and care they need through their Medicare coverage. The COPD Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with Village Medical on this must-watch educational event.”
