CHICAGO & ATLANTA – April 2, 2020 – VillageMD, a leading national provider of primary care, today announced a new relationship in Atlanta with Aetna, a leading national health insurance provider, to further improve the quality of care and better manage costs among VillageMD’s patients. VillageMD is the first primary care-led group to accept full financial risk with Aetna Medicare Advantage patients in the Atlanta market.
“We’re pleased to make this opportunity a reality for both the physicians we work with and the patients they care for through our new relationship with Aetna,” said Tim Barry, CEO and co-founder of VillageMD. “We pride ourselves on being a healthcare leader, and more importantly, delivering on our promises to improve patient care and reduce the total cost of care.”
The effectiveness will be measured annually, with metrics including improved quality of patient care and reduced healthcare costs for patients.
“Aetna is thrilled to collaborate with VillageMD on a robust, value-based arrangement designed to promote high-quality care, a holistic and supportive patient experience, and improved efficiency for patients and members in greater Atlanta,” said Frank Ulibarri, Aetna’s president in Georgia.
